Fantastico! Installing Wordpress in cPanel

Fantastico! A great sounding word -- you can think of something(or someone) that suddenly appears. And, yes it is but its not a magic show. Fantastico allows you to install over 50 scripts on your website instantly including Wordpress! It runs under cPanel so probably you already have Fantastico if you have a cPanel server.

You must get a webhost that has Fantastico. If your web hosting company does not provide you with this script then start looking for another company! That simple and it will make your life(blogging) simple. If you are not sure where to get cPanel servers, sign up here and you'll have Fantastico installed by default.

Here's the steps on "How to install Wordpress using Fantastico"

1. Login into your cPanel account. The URL is something like http://www.YourDomain.com/cpanel

2. Look for the Fantastico icon(see image below) and click on it. It is under the Software/Services window in cPanel..

3. You should now see the page like what is shown below. Click on the "Wordpress" link.

4. On the Wordpress setup page, click on the New Installation link. (shown below)

5. On the first Wordpress installation wizard page you will be asked of some details. Some input fields are self-explanatory but there are some quite confusing on most information marketers. Here is some explanation of the other details and see example below.

Admin access data: You are asked to provide the desired username and password for the Admin section of your blog. The Admin section is where you can publish and edit blog posts, approved comments, change the site theme, and access to any other administrative functions of your blog. I advised you use a POWER PASSWORD since I have several clients who used very simple passwords and later their blog was hacked. Click here if you want to know about how to create a power password.

Base configuration:
Admin nickname:
Choose whatever name you desired. The name you will place here will be used in your profile and will show when you are logged in the admin area. In the example below, it will say 'Howdy, Stanley Dumanig!'

Admin email: Place your VALID email address here. This where email notifications will be sent such as when people post comments on your blog. You can change your email address later though.

Site name: The site name will be the title of your blog(see the last image on this tutorial).

Description: This becomes the sub-title of your blog.

Once you have place all the details above, click on the Install Wordpress button.

6. Fantastico will confirm some details of your installation. Check if the access URL is where you want Wordpress to be installed. In this case, I want it to be installed under the blog folder and indeed it shows it will be installed at http://www.filipinowebmasters.com/blog. Now, proceed with the installation by clicking the button "Finish installation".

7. The message below will appear if you have successfully installed Wordpress. It will show you the login URL, username and password. If you want these details to be sent to your email address just use the form found just below the installation notice.

8. Congratulations! You have now successfully installed Wordpress. See an example of the standard look of a Wordpress installation.

Wordpress is a VERY powerful software. You can change the design easily and install plugins to add functionality to your site. If you want to read more tutorials on Wordpress such as using themes and plugins, click here.
